I came across a painting by "H. Gailey" as well. Not knowing anything, I went out to the web, and I saw your reply, and kept hunting. The following link shows a painting by H. Gailey, but the signature on my "lighthouse" print doesn''t match this one. http://www.francetoyou.com/frenchpaintings.html

If you are interest, we can perhaps compare signatures? And it didn''t match the signature of a current ebay listing.

Hi I saw the name of the painter you were looking for. I''m looking to for someone by that name. I just bought one to, with the name H.Gailey or the i may be an r. I forgot to put the painters name down on the topic H. gailey or H. garley there is no dot above the i so that''s why i thought it may be an r. mine is of a sunset and waves coming in to shore, blues and pinks is the painter famous or just an osmium painter.

I also havea beautiful seascape signed h. Gailey, or at least that is what it looks like. I was told that it was found in the attic of a house in Canada in or around 1960. Please keep me informed if you find anything out about these. Thanks, Davida

I just found a link via Google today from a site called francetoyou. It was listed under French painting--what looks to be a watercolor and lists H. Gailey as English 19th Century. I''m still looking. Mine is an oil of a golden beach scene with row boat and gulls that I bought at a Goodwill in Indiana within the last year.

I obtained an original oil painting, signed by "H.Gailey" in 1977, in Corvallis, Oregon. This painting is of a beautiful, misty tree-lined waterway.

I have one of the waves breaking on the seashore between two rocks with two seagulls in a cloudy sky background. In the far bacground there are distant shoreline hills in the mist depicting that this is an inlet. The sky is slightly white fading to blue as it merges with the darker color variation of the frothing Ocean or Sea. The canvas is tacked to a 6 inch by 8 inch frame. It is beautiful!! whether worth anything or not. Everything is in exquisite detail including the Sea Gulls when looked at with a magnyfying glass. The signature is one of the H Gailey (No dotted i) but does not resemble any of those presented on the net. A reference to a gallery contributor is "Eikenberry" 535840 G-T Kores. Hope this helps someone.

Just bought a sea and land oil painting with H. Gailey or H. Gavley or H. Garley. Want to know more about the painter. Very nice work - empty wooden row boat pulled up ont the sandy and rocky beach of a small cove with tall decidous trees, waves off the beach and a couple of seagulls. Found the painting in tag sale in Eastern Washington State. Aug/2010

Yes, I also have a "H Gailey" oil painting (without the dot on the i). I bought it in Cradock (South Africa) from an art salesperson in 1984/1985. The scene seems to be the same - seagulls, coastal pictrure, weed and a fishersman''s bout. Any ideas? Is it a fake?
